Looking for a BDSM dungeon in Sydney?
With the closure of Salon Kitty’s, Temple 22 and the famous Hellfire Club, there are just two BDSM dungeons ‘for hire’ remaining in Sydney – The Kastle and Hedon House – and they offer quite contrasting experiences.
There’s also a raft of mistresses offering a dungeon experience at their custom built studios. Those are private residences though. For the purpose of this guide, we’ll be taking a closer look at the bondage action on offer at Kastle and Hedon.
Sydney’s Most Popular Dungeon Play Spaces
Known for its liberalism and diversity, the Harbour City attracts fetish fans and kinksters like no other. And, in a perpetual circle of supply and demand, there is a vibrant and active culture for BDSM fans.
The most famous venue in town is undoubtedly…
The Kastle
131 Abercrombie St, Chippendale NSW 2008
Situated in the south of the city between Victoria Park and Prince Alfred Park, the Kastle is considered to be Sydney’s most successful professional dungeon. Operating for 25 years, the venue has five speciality dungeon rooms, each offering a slightly different theme or kink.
The Medical Room
A well-equipped room for all medical fetishes, this space is used to give clients a through physical and internal inspection and to test bodily functions, Skilled practitioners can even perform ‘castration surgery’ whereby the flaccid penis is temporarily fixed between the testicles with the skin of the scrotum closed over the top. The technique results in a reasonable likeness of the correct female form.
The Pussy Parlour
A space designed to break arrogant males with sissification and extreme female transformation, mistresses have ready access to a large wardrobe for slut training and can even emasculate their subjects through ‘castration surgery’ (see above).
The Red Dungeon
Aptly named, the Red Dungeon is the prime anal training play room and there is a sling for easy access by the mistress. There is plenty of other specialist equipment including leg spreaders, chastity devices, manacles and electrical torture devices. The Red Dungeon is also with equestrian accessories and the strait jacket are kept.
The Black Dungeon
The smallest of the five rooms and an intimate torture chamber, the Black Dungeon features a bondage chair, bench and pole running from floor to ceiling. As well as the usual ropes, whips, paddles, harnesses, hoods and gags, the door to the Black Dungeon is fitted with a peep-hole to allow voyeurs to witness your humiliation.
The Blue Dungeon
Equipped with suspension and bondage gear, the Blue Dungeon offers an alternative space for similar kinds of sessions offered in the Red and Black dungeons.
And as you can see below, it’s very well equipped…
The Kastle is run by professional dominatrix, Mistress Scarlett, who has been working in the dungeon industry since 1991. Previously working for the Manhattan club, Pandora’s Box she has an international reputation for the quality of her services and is in high demand.
Mistress Scarlett also has a team of professional play partners, submissives, Masters and Mistresses who are on hand to deliver sessions tailored for each client’s particular fetish and kink.
At the time of writing, there are ten mistresses available for private play-sessions:
- Mistress Violet
- Mistress Margo
- Mistress Astra
- Mistress Memphis
- Mistress Skylar
- Mistress Luna
- Mistress Geneva
- Mistress Piper
- Mistress Medina
- And the owner herself, Mistress Scarlett
And then they have a separate roster of submissives, described as obedient and ready and waiting to please their Masters…
- Roxie
- Veronica
- Lola
- Minky
- Ruby
- Summer
- Blossom
Normally we would supply a pricing menu, but the reality is that sessions at The Kastle are so bespoke – and so unique to each provider – you’ll have to negotiate separately, and discuss any boundaries beforehand to ensure a safe and pleasurable experience.
As with any of these venues, which go far beyond the typical Sydney brothel, “Safe, Sane and Consensual” are the key parameters!
Hedon House
Gadigal Hedon House is Sydney’s newest luxury private dungeon (and the twin of an equally successful Melbourne studio).
It’s a different feel here, less “public brothel-style venue” and more “secret Airbnb of kink” – except with a smattering of cages, slings and spanking benches instead of scented candles and pastel cushions.
The location is kept deliberately vague (roughly 4km south of the CBD), and you only receive the exact address after booking. This is for discretion. The neighbours don’t want to see random kinks window-shopping in leather straps and carrying a Hitachi wand!
Inside, Hedon House is equipped like a professional dungeon… but it’s clearly designed to feel intimate with some beautiful interior design. There’s a suspension point in the living room, a four-poster bed for recovery (or filth, depending on your energy levels), and all the key BDSM furniture: bondage table, spanking horse, cages, ropes, floggers, clamps, medical toys, impact gear… the lot.
The owners are kinksters themselves, so they’ve thought of everything right down to gloves, lube, condoms and cleaning supplies. There aren’t many bases left uncovered.
Unlike The Kastle, there are no in-house mistresses here. You’re renting the venue itself – which makes it ideal for couples, poly groups, or anyone bringing their own pro-domme along for a private session.
It’s BYO booze, BYO food, BYO play partner. So… more of a private playground than a commercial dungeon.
This particular venue has received quite a lot of mainstream attention, as you’d expect for what is effectively a BDSM extension of the AirBnb model!
Unlike an AirBnb, you can book this venue by the hour. Pricing starts from $105 per hour, but it’s often necessary to book weeks in advance. They have a calendar booking system on the website.
Overnight stays are available, too, and they typically start from $460 per night. Check in from 4pm, check out by 10am.
And Sadly Now Closed…
If we go back a few years, Sydney used to have a much richer landscape of public BDSM venues.
Salon Kitty’s, Temple 22 and the legendary Hellfire Club were once the stomping grounds of the city’s kink community. Each had its own following: Hellfire in particular was the fetish party for decades… but it sadly closed its doors earlier this year due to rising costs.
For decades it thrived as a mix of nightclub and fetish playground. You’d see latex queens dancing to pounding industrial beats, a suspension rig in the corner, and half the city’s queer and kinky underground in attendance. It was basically a dungeon on a dancefloor.
But the economics of running a dedicated fetish venue caught up with them. By 2024, the venue needed to hit a $20,000 minimum bar spend just to survive, but was only turning over about $12,000 on an average night. The owners decided they couldn’t keep plugging the gap, and the curtain came down on one of Sydney’s longest-running fetish institutions.
The closure of Hellfire marked the end of an era. The days of big, monthly public fetish parties have mostly given way to more curated private spaces like Hedon House or long-standing pro venues like The Kastle.
Much of the BDSM play has moved into private dungeons, hire-by-the-hour kink houses, or invite-only events organised within the community.
If you’re looking to connect beyond the venues themselves, we’d recommend Fetlife as the most useful entry point. After all, it’s not that Sydney’s kink community has disappeared.
But you need to know where to look and take the time to connect with the right people.
Or… cough up the big bucks and get your kink on at The Kastle!
