Sydney is the undisputed capital of adult entertainment in Australia.
One look at Google Maps tells you all you need to know: sex sells in Sydney. The concentration of licensed adult venues rivals just about any major city in the world.
Our Sydney Sex Guide covers the top legal and licensed adult services from Sydney and the state of New South Wales. And boy, there’s a ton of X-rated thrills to be enjoyed.
From luxury brothels in the heart of the CBD, to the historic ‘red light district’ of Kings Cross, and the many bustling suburbs overflowing with massage shops — the Harbour City is dripping with possibilities.
Quick Links:
- Sydney Brothels – you could probably visit a new one every night, such is the size of our massive legal brothels list. We can’t keep track of every new venue, but we try!
- Sydney Escorts – decisions, decisions… you’ve got international agencies vying with some of the most popular independent courtesans in the whole of Australia.
- Sydney Strip Clubs – don’t expect a cheap night out, that’s all we’re gonna say.
- Sydney Erotic Massage – a real smorgasbord, the CBD (in particular) is absolutely rammo-jammo full of AMPs.
Is Sex Work Legal In Sydney?
NSW is famously home to some of the most progressive and liberal sex work laws in all of Australia (and the world). For sex workers, it is one of the easiest places to make a living from the adult industry.
Brothels are legal (when licensed appropriately), as is prostitution.
Sydney is thus home to some of the country’s most famous bordellos. There are adult services available for every taste, fantasy and budget: from $60 Blow & Go parlours, to luxury courtesans charging thousands per hour.
Punter’s Views
We asked readers for their thoughts on the sex industry in Sydney. Some select highlights below:
I didn’t realise how common it was for guys to go to brothels and AMPs until I moved to Sydney (from Wayville). New office, very different attitude to hookers – let’s just leave it at that! It’s an open secret in the office that several of the guys drop in after work. And when you look at a map of the different venues around the CBD, it’s not like they’re short on options.

The business is changing for sure, and Sydney is a prime example. Inflation has seen prices go up and I’m having to charge more than I did pre-Covid. I don’t see much slowdown in business, but the type of regular clients is changing. More affluent fly-by-night types. It’s a shame to see regulars disappear but it is what it is. On a personal level, I’ve branched in to OnlyFans and camming on the side. OF is excellent and the schedule is much nicer, but cam modelling is tough with all the international competition (and much lower pricing).

The level of choice around Sydney is pretty much as good as you’re going to find in Australia. Not just brothels and massage shops, but escorts of all prices – particularly the touring international types. Unfortunately I’ve seen a lot of change since Covid and the value is not as good as it used to be. A lot of extra services that were included for free 10 years ago now come with big extra costs. $50 here, $30 there… it all adds up. The premium agencies are still raking in the cash, but I think there’s been a downturn in the middle market. Sydney is still #1 for choice, but you better have some deep pockets if you want access to the best girls.

FAQs: The Dirty Side of Sydney
We could never hope to answer all of your bat-shit crazy questions about sex in NSW, but here’s a few classics we hear time and time again…
What are the women like in Sydney?
So you’re new, huh? 😉 Well let’s start by saying that Sydney girls tend to be a pretty confident bunch. Elite Singles surveyed over 28,000 single Australians asking them to rate their attractiveness. Guess where Sydney women placed themselves? Right at the top in #1 place, ahead of Melbourne and Gold Coast.
It’s hard to disagree though. The CBD attracts thousands of young, attractive and beautiful twenty-somethings. Sydney is a melting pot of different nationalities. The main thing to note is that these girls have some serious options in the dating pool. You’re not going to win the race with your B-game.
Where can I find ladyboys in Sydney?
It should come as no surprise that the easiest place to find ladyboys and “shemales” is Oxford Street and around Darlinghurst.
This area has traditionally been very popular with the gay scene. There are a number of gay bars in this area, which is just a stone’s throw from the main Sydney CBD.
The most famous spot for picking up Trans escorts and sex workers is ‘The Wall’, which has become something of an iconic red light landmark. It is found along the eastern perimeter of the Darlinghurst Gaol and is frequented by both gay men and TS escorts.
Are there any famous porn stars from Sydney?
Hell yeah. The most famous of the bunch is Angela White, the first-ever three-time AVN Female Performer of the Year. Other Sydney hotties you can get your fap on to include: Gigi Allens, Tori Cummings, Sally Charles, Atlantis Deep and Selena Silver.
Any good pickup bars in town?
We like the chilled out vibes at El loco or Goros in Surry Hills. For an atmospheric underground cocktail bar, try The Baxter Inn (whiskey at the ready!). Hotel Sweeney’s has a nice rooftop bar. There’s also The Ivy, a multi-level super club famous for its diverse crowd. Depending on the night, you’ll find everything from city professionals to hedonistic party-goers.
Does Sydney have an official red light district?
Kings Cross was historically known as the ‘red-light district’ of Sydney, but gentrification has seen its former reputation take a back seat. Redevelopment brought new businesses, apartment builds, and a focus on cleaning up the area. Did it work? Kinda. The adult entertainment venues still exist, but their numbers have significantly decreased.
The Inner City remains a hotbed of adult services. Areas like Potts Point, Darlinghurst, Woolloomooloo and Surry Hills are known for their clubs, parlours and brothels. Parramatta is also ‘well stocked’ with licensed venues.
What is the kink/BDSM scene like?
There is a vibrant and active culture for BDSM fans with several famous venues offering up kinky services. Situated in the south of the city between Victoria Park and Prince Alfred Park, The Kastle is considered to be Sydney’s most successful professional dungeon. Operating for 25 years, the venue has five speciality dungeon rooms, each offering a slightly different theme or kink.
Other BDSM hotspots include The Hellfire Club, often referred to as the ‘McDonalds of Kink’.
What is the LGBT scene like?
Active! Sydney has a huge gay scene, the largest in all of Australia.
The heart of Sydney’s LGBT scene is Oxford Street in Darlinghurst. This area became a focal point for the community in the 1970s, when gay bars and clubs began to open, creating a safe space for LGBTQ+ people to socialize. Today it’s home to popular gay venues like Stonewall Hotel, a gay bar set over 3 levels with nightly entertainment and drag shows.
Also nearby is ARQ Sydney, a smash-hit gay nightclub on Flinders Street.
And don’t forget the annual Sydney Mardi Gras. Attracting over 500,000 revellers, it’s the largest Pride event in all of Oceania!

Recommendations? Observations? Let’s hear ’em.
Someone above said that “cam modelling is tough with all the international competition (and much lower pricing).”
I believe I can find a brothel that is cheaper than these sites. Maybe the models are being ripped off but I have paid 100 for about 10 minutes on web cams.
I’m actually hooked on them and usually stay longer than 10 minutes or the minimum.
Cams are big money, for sure.
There’s also the resell value of their shows. A girl can go private with Punter A and sell a voyeur stream of the same show to Punter B, C, D, etc.
Not to mention the free-for-all of tips.
It surprises me that there aren’t more Aussie cam girls out there when you count the number of Sydney brothels/escorts. All of these girls could earn a very decent amount with many less headaches to deal with.
