Looking for some adult entertainment in Auckland?
Sex work is fully legal in Auckland, backed by some of the most liberal prostitution laws in the world. With such lofty billing, it’s no surprise that the City of Sails has a buffet of NSFW options on the menu: brothels, massage shops, hundreds of escorts and more.
This guide spills the beans on every adult service the city has to offer, from the polished gentlemen’s clubs of the CBD to the lingering grit of K Road. We touch on prices, venues, etiquette, and a few insider tips for enjoying Auckland afterdark. 😉
Sex In Auckland
Sex and Prostitution In Auckland
Prostitution is fully legal and decriminalised across New Zealand, including Auckland, under the Prostitution Reform Act 2003.
This means selling sex, brothel-keeping, escort agencies, and even street work are lawful, as long as all parties involved are consenting adults.
Of course, coercion of sex workers is still strictly illegal, and SWs have the right to refuse any client at any time. One quirk of the NZ system is that migrants on temporary visas cannot work in the sex industry.
It’s fair to say, many touring escorts have made a mockery of this stipulation!
For our purposes, Auckland ticks all the right boxes. While Australia remains a state-by-state patchwork of different sex work laws, New Zealand’s national agenda makes the rules here in Auckland delightfully straightforward – and pretty much the same, even if you hop over a regional boundary.
You won’t find the kind of whack-a-mole police crackdowns that still plague parts of Australia.
Auckland’s industry runs in the open, with brothels paying tax, escorts advertising without fear, and street work confined mostly to known pockets. The New Zealand Prostitutes’ Collective even has an Auckland branch, handing out free condoms, running health checks, and generally making sure workers have the resources to stay safe and healthy.
That’s not to say the city’s sex scene is squeaky clean. Stigma hasn’t disappeared, and there’s still the occasional political grumble about visible street work in suburbs like Papatoetoe. But for punters, it’s a dream: legal, easy to navigate, and packed with variety.
Which brings us to one of the real highlights…
Escort Industry
Auckland’s escort scene is a mixed bag of agencies and independents, with the independents easily outnumbering the rest (by a very wide margin).
Thanks to decriminalisation, a SW can advertise from her (or his!) own apartment with nothing more than a smartphone and a bit of savvy. Many do exactly that, bypassing agencies entirely to keep 100% of the booking fee.
For punters, that means two things:
- Choice – the line-up is constantly changing, with new faces popping up every week.
- Competition – rates tend to stay fair, and providers have to keep their service quality high to get repeat business.
If you prefer a little structure, Auckland does have some well-run agencies. These handle the screening, marketing and bookings, and often offer incall premises or vetted outcalls.
Options include:
- La Fleur – Elite and VIP courtesans broken into two tiers (Amour and Desire). Cheapest rates are from $400/hr. Overnights start at $2200.
- DollHouse – A long-running elite escort agency known for glamorous companions. 25+ listed.
- Secret Companions – Around 30 private companions listed on their site; a mix of NZ locals and International bombshells.
- Sapphire Blue – Located right in the heart of Auckland Central. Has a short-time option, $170 for 20 minutes, or $290 for 1 hour. Lots of extras available with individual profiles listing the add-ons and prices.
These agencies are a good shout for nervous first-timers or busy executive types who don’t want to run the gamut of bait-and-switch time-wasting.
For most punters, the major independent directories remain the #1 starting point. These have by far the most choice (and slightly cheaper pricing).
- NZGirls – the big dog in town. It’s part escort directory, part punters’ forum, and almost every working escort in NZ lists here. You can filter by location, services, rates, and even read unfiltered client reviews. Been around for 20 years… and still the best.
- EscortsDirectory.co.nz – slick interface, GPS search, and a smaller but still solid roster of independents and agencies.
- Escortify, Tryst, Babylon – all viable directories with some Auckland listings.
- Locanto – hundreds of ads posted weekly, generally the cheapest rates but with the caveat that YMMV!
Auckland Brothels
Brothels operate openly and legally throughout Auckland – there are many decent options to choose from. We profiled the big names in our separate brothels guide.
If you’re looking for the best incall options, start there!
The venues range from plush inner-city “gentlemen’s clubs” with champagne bars to discreet suburban houses where you’re ushered straight to the room and down to business.
They all follow the same basic rules: no under-18 workers, mandatory condom use, and clear, upfront pricing.
If you want the classic lineup experience, The Pelican Club in Eden Terrace and Galaxy Club downtown are the big-name heavyweights… both have multiple women rostered, comfortable lounges to meet them in, and a steady mix of local and international talent keeping the scene nice and fresh.
The North Shore isn’t left out either, with spots like Albany Angels catering to punters who’d rather avoid the bridge.
Prices typically start around $120 for 15 minutes and $230 for the hour, with extras clearly listed. Albany, like many, charges a premium for ‘the full GFE’ (which includes multi-shots).
Red Light Districts
Auckland doesn’t have a bonafide RLD, and with so many options for every budget, off the street – why would it need one?
The famous Karangahape Road (K Road), on the edge of the CBD, is probably the closest thing to a red light strip.
Once a rough, neon-soaked vice strip, it’s now a gentrified mix of hip cafes, vintage shops, LGBT bars, and the last of the city’s inner-city brothels, massage joints, and strip clubs. By day, you’d hardly call it seedy. By night, well… the old grit still peeks through.
The video below offers a decent perspective:
Hunter’s Corner in Papatoetoe is a different beast altogether – it’s the city’s main street-based sex work area. Mostly working-class, mostly after-dark, and not without its drama. We’ve heard some sketchy tales from here and strongly suggest you avoid it!
Punters do cruise here, but the smarter ones keep their wits about them and plan to move indoors fast.
Besides K Road and Hunter’s Corner, sometimes the outer end of Newton Road (near Symonds St) has workers, and downtown near Myers Park was once a cruising area. But the truth is, the internet and the abundance of legal brothels have greatly reduced the visibility of hookers and street prostitution.
Skip the street scene altogether.
The Price of Sex in Auckland
The good news is that Auckland’s pricing for adult services is fairly standardised and transparent, so you’re less likely to get your wallet gouged.
And indeed, the prices are pretty respectable.
Brothel Prices: Vary considerably, with the cheapest venues offering full sex at under $150 for 30 minutes, while the luxury establishments charge well over $300. An average is around $100-$160 for 30 minutes, $180-$240 for 1 hour. Note that many brothels upsell GFE as a premium experience, and this will add at least 20% to the overall cost.
Escort Prices: Generally cheaper than what you’ll find over in Australia. Expect to pay roughly $200-$300 for one hour with a mid-tier courtesan. At the luxury end, you see a lot of established girls charging $400-$500/hour – in line with agency pricing. Those charging higher are generally touring or (increasingly) OnlyFans names with social media clout. Again, extras can rapidly widen the dent to your wallet.
Erotic Massage: Cheap and cheerful. Normally just $60-$80 for 30 minutes erotic massage, or $100-$120 for 1 hour. Many AMPs will advertise as low as $40 for 30 minutes… but keep in mind that this is only the massage part! The extras will push that up towards our baseline figures.
Cash is king in most establishments; a few high-end places take Eftpos/credit cards, but we’d recommend you come armed with cash if you’re visiting a smaller venue.
Erotic Massage Shops
Some punters swear by Auckland’s erotic massage scene... not just as a cheaper alternative to full service, but as a whole different adrenaline rush; uncovering some young, beautiful masseuse that nobody knows about.
If you’ve never had a proper nude body slide with hot oil, you’re missing out!
The beauty here is that these venues run totally above-board under NZ’s legal framework. They’re essentially brothels that lead with the massage. Obviously, the full menu depends on the lady and the shop’s policy. For a lot of guys, that teasing build-up is half the thrill.
Some highly-rated massage shops:
Debonairs – 4/337 Dominion Road, Mount Eden. Higher-end parlour. A massive selection of intimate body rubs, including couples massage and even a foot fetish service. The standard body to body starts at $140 for 30 minutes.
Total Body Bliss – Level 1/1 College Hill, Freemans Bay. Super premium. Both female and male masseuses, hand-picked locals and international companions that you won’t find in a typical AMP.
Note, both of these options are for a premium experience. If you’re just looking for the classic rub and tug, you will find a ton of smaller AMPs that charge much less and get the job done. Check out AsianParadise for a bunch of decent shops in the region.
Locanto is also good place to start – over 650 erotic massage ads at the time of writing. It’s truly the Wild West on there… so keep your wits about you.
Sex Clubs In Auckland
Auckland’s swinging scene isn’t particularly huge, but there are a couple of sex clubs and swinger venues of interest:
CCK Club – 246C Hobson Street, Auckland Central. There are five main play areas as well as a grope tent, St Andys Cross and Swing, dancing pole and cage and black room. Kitted out with modern wash facilities, and the environment is clean, safe and secure. Their popular events include the 45 Plus Roast, CCK Hotwifing and Wicked Wednesday Night (a popular for swinging all-comers).
The Chilli Club – 3122 Great North Road, New Lynn. Known for hosting some of Auckland’s premier kink and fetish events. The last advertised meet-up was the CHOKES Fuckit Party. They promote most of their activities via Fetlife, so sign up there to see what’s on the schedule.
Greedy Girls – On the 1st Friday of every month – their website promises: “This is a Group Sex Feast, a smorgasboard of delights. An event for single guys and ladies who like, (or would like to have), multiple sexual partners, adventurous couples who really want to spice up their sex lives, and to anyone else who likes to watch others having sex.” It appears they’ve relocated their events to CCK Club as of 2025.
If you want to initiate yourself with the local swinging scene, we’d suggest joining one of the popular social networks where Auckland’s swingers hang out online.
The best options are SDC, Red Hot Pie or KiwiSwingers.
O,f if you’re feeling particularly kinky, try Fetlife.
Auckland Strip Clubs
Auckland has about half a dozen notable strip clubs, mostly in or near the CBD.
Entry is typically pretty cheap ($10-$20), fully nude dancing is allowed (and common!), and most clubs offer private lap dances and VIP rooms.
Unlike in some countries, Auckland clubs don’t generally enforce strict no-touch rules… so the action can get a little… handsy. Just remember to keep it respectful, and with her permission!
Some of the local favourites:
The White House – 371 Queen Street, Auckland Central. Housed in a gorgeous former Masonic lodge (check it out below!), The White House is Auckland’s longest-running strip club and a massive draw with its mix of choreographed stage shows and full nude revues. Private dance rates are typically $30/song or package deals ($100 for 3 songs).
Calendar Girls – 243 Karangahape Road, Auckland Central. A famous chain of strip clubs in NZ with other venues in both Wellington and Christchurch. The Auckland branch opened on K’ Road a few years back, bringing a flashy Vegas-style operation to the area.
Showgirls – 55 Customs Street East, Auckland Central. You normally get a bit of a younger crowd here. Not as polished as the clubs above, but known for a fun riotous atmosphere. Private dance rates starting at $110 for 10 minutes… so roughly 3 songs.
Have cash ready for tipping. Many clubs have in-house ATMs, but you’ll get charged through the nose to use them – so better to come prepared!
Local Sex Shops and Adult Stores
If you want to add some spice to the bedroom, Auckland has a bunch of decent adult retail options.
Here are some sex shops you might want to check out:
Peaches and Cream – 474 Karangahape Road, Auckland Central. The K’Road megastore is one of the largest of the P&C branches, offering a huge range of sex toys, DVDs, lingerie, lubricants, and BDSM gear. Hard to miss with the bright pink signage.
GiGi Adult Department Store – 222 Khyber Pass Road, Grafton. Another large warehouse-style outlet, this one claims to be the largest in NZ. It’s proudly LGBTQ+ and kink friendly with individual rooms stocking product lines for each category – a dildo room, bondage room, etc. Bright layout and very female-friendly.
Basement Adult Shop & Cruise Club – 12 Canada Street, Auckland Central. Very different vibes! Both an adult retail shop and a gay cruise club in the back. This place doubles up as a male sex club with regular themed events.
There are also multiple Seductiva branches scattered around Auckland. Known for a wide selection of vibrators and wand massagers.
