According to the Australian Sex Census, 5.6% of married Aussies describe themselves as swingers, and up to 32% of long-term couples are open to a swinging lifestyle.
That’s not a fringe hobby, by any stretch. That’s hundreds of thousands of couples across the country quietly trading keys, hosting house parties, or heading to purpose-built clubs for a night of fun. From Sydney’s infamous orgies to Adelaide’s underground socials, the Lifestyle is far more active than most people realise.
This guide pulls together the best swinger clubs and parties in every state, plus their legal quirks, and why some states are strangely bereft of clubs… despite a seemingly rampant demand!
Australia’s Favourite Swinger Clubs In Each State
OK, so before we dive into the venues, a quick tip: most of these clubs don’t advertise on billboards. They promote through Red Hot Pie and Adult Matchmaker… the two big online networks where Aussie swingers actually connect.
If you’re not already on one (or both), you’re basically standing outside the party with your nose pressed to the glass. Some of the events below will require you to be a member if you want to get on the guest list.
New South Wales
Let’s start with the country’s biggest state, New South Wales.
Home to a population of over 8.2 million people, the region boasts some great locations including Bondi Beach, Newcastle and Wollongong. Not to mention the state capital of Sydney which more than 60% of New South Wales calls home.
Sydney is naturally a hot spot for swinging, attracting the folks from the Australian Capital Territory as well as a good selection from the city’s 8 million tourists each year.
It is estimated that around seven swinging events are held each weekend throughout the state.
Popular Venues & Events:
- Our Secret Spot – First opened in March 2014 over in the Darlinghurst area. It has since migrated over to Annandale / Parramatta and has become arguably the premier lifestyle venue in Sydney.
- Fun4Two – Relatively new club in Rydalmere. Known for its regular Newbie Nights, typically held on Saturdays with a late-night crowd of both young and experienced Lifestylers.
- Allure – Hosts exclusive private sex parties around Sydney with a strict screening process to ensure that the crowd lives up to its “young and beautiful” reputation.
- Sydney Inner Circle – A Sydney-based society, sponsored by Red Hot Pie, with regular events promoted via their network.
- Newcastle Labyrinth – Stylish new venue on Hunter Street, Newcastle. Regular play parties and BDSM-themed dance parties.
- Dragons Pleasure Lounge – Based in Caddens. Cheekily known as the DP Lounge, this custom-built luxury venue has a 10-seat luxury spa, play room and 4 private bedrooms. Screening process for new members.
- Sin Sity Swingers – Surry Hills venue hosting daily play parties, gangbangs, orgies and plenty of group action.
- The Wheel 687 – Hunter Street, Newcastle. Doubles as a bar and social venue, with themed nights every week (Tight-Ass Tuesdays, Thirsty Thursdays).
- Nova Swingers – Another Newcastle-based group; a community of swingers who host private meet-ups around town and in nearby Hunter Valley

The Legal Side:
Prostitution and “sex services premises” have been decriminalized in NSW since the 1990s, and swingers clubs certainly benefit from that tolerant framework.
There are no specific law bans sexual activity among consenting adults in a private venue… which means swingers clubs are not illegal in NSW. However, they are typically regulated at the local council level, just like other adult businesses.
Victoria
Victoria, Australia’s second largest state, is home to 6.5 million people and is considered by many as Australia’s swinging capital.
Compared to New South Wales’s eight swinging parties each weekend, Melbourne alone is thought to host at least fifteen lifestyle events on a weekly basis. There’s certainly no shortage of group action here.
Popular Venues & Events:
- Shed 16 – This famous Seaford club has specialist areas including the ‘suckatorium’, heavy duty and sling rooms as well as porn lounges.
- Between Friends – A fairly new Balaclava venue combining a classy wine bar experience downstairs, with a sensual and erotic playground upstairs.
- Virtue & Vice – Events are typically held at the Melbourne Pavilion in Kensington, caters to lovers of all kinds – voyeurs, exhibitionists, kinksters, and fetishists alike.
- Saints and Sinners Ball – A legendary quarterly event in the Victoria swinging community. Running for 34 years and one of the country’s largest swinger meet-ups.
- PURR at Chasers – Big dance party for exhibitionists and swingers, takes place at Chasers Nightclub in South Yarra.
- The Play Pen – Private tailored gangbang parties for women who want to live out their fantasies of enjoying multiple men at once.
- Swingers Couples Club – Traditional swingers club for over 45s; this group has small events in a luxurious serviced-apartment in the suburbs of West Melbourne.
- Wet on Wellington – Best-known as one of Melbourne’s premier gay venues, with its large pool, spa, dry sauna and steam room pulling in the punters. The third Monday of each month hosts a massive swingers party.
- Melbourne Inner Circle – A Melbourne-based society, sponsored by Red Hot Pie, with regular events promoted via their network.
- Club Gemini – One of the longest running swinger clubs in the whole of Melbourne. Based in Pascoe Vale South. They have themed rooms, dungeons, medical rooms and a large dance floor area.
Check out our separate swingers guide for Melbourne.
The Legal Side:
Victoria underwent a major shake-up recently. As of December 1, 2023, Victoria decriminalized sex work fully – repealing the old Sex Work Act 1994. This previously affected swinger clubs since they could technically be seen as “running a brothel”.
Now, swingers clubs in Victoria are fully legal as long as they comply with general business regulations (zoning, planning, etc.).
There is no law in Victoria forbidding sex in open areas of a private club, so you can expect some pretty wild parties at the venues above.
Queensland
Queensland has the highest proportion of swingers in Australia with 10% of the state involved in the lifestyle. That’s almost half a million swingers!
That’s ironic, because swingers clubs here have faced heavy restrictions rooted in the state’s historically strict sex laws. Still, the cities of Brisbane and Gold Coast, in particular, are a hotbed for The Lifestyle.
Popular Venues & Events:
- Taboo 22 – Based in Loganholme and billed as Queensland’s Friendliest Swingers Club, this is a private residence with hosts, Phil and Lindy, offering up some interesting play rooms. As well as a lounge area, manned BYOB bar, 6-person spa and dance floor, there are more than 8 bedrooms to explore, including a BDSM room.
- 4Bidden Parties – An exclusive club that organises private events in the Brisbane area. Much younger crowd, aged 18-40 with few exceptions. Strict vetting process.
- Hellfire Club – A legendary part of the scene. This Spring Hill venue is right in the heart of the Brisbane CBD. The club meets monthly and have been doing so for more than 25 years to celebrate “playful subversion”.
- Mike’s Place – Covering an internal space of almost 400 sq/m, this Slacks Creek venue can host up to 180 revellers and is known for throwing some of the biggest sex parties in the state.
- Kinki Klosett – Not a traditional swingers club, this is actually a fetish store with a porn cinema that is known for hosting private parties. It has 8 private rooms, each with two-way privacy sliders (covering gloryholes).
- Encounterz – Located east of Brisbane over in Ipswich. Events are held weekly on Fridays and Saturdays, attracting a steady slew of regulars.
- Chateau Vino – Perhaps the most famous swinger venue in Queensland, and one of the best known in the entire country. 11 dedicated playrooms and the only dedicated BDSM dungeon in QLD.
- Gold Coast Inner Circle – A GC-based society, sponsored by Red Hot Pie, with regular events promoted via their network.
- SEQs Parties – A regular schedule of sex parties, orgies and swinger meets in South East Queensland. Hosts the famous Greedy Girls nights (“Two to three guys per greedy girl“).
Check out our separate swingers guide for Brisbane and Gold Coast.
The Legal Side:
As we mentioned, Queensland’s swinging scene has traditionally been hampered by some strict laws. The recent decrim changes have cleared things up somewhat, but problems remain.
Clubs that sell alcohol are bound by the Liquor Act and adult-entertainment rules. You can’t run sexual activity on liquor-licensed premises without falling into separate, tightly regulated categories, so Queensland swinger clubs remain BYO rather than licensed bars.
Clubs also need to get council approval for any adult business (to satisfy health/safety conditions).
While the party still goes on… you can expect a slightly ‘tamer’ vibe at QLD clubs, at least compared to those in Sydney or Melbourne.
South Australia
Locals joke that everyone knows everyone in South Australia, which is both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, you can build a trusted circle fast; on the other, there’s always the chance you’ll bump into your kid’s schoolteacher at a house party!
As you’d expect, most of the actions revolves around Adelaide.
Popular Venues & Events:
- The Rabbit Hole – The best-known destination for swingers in Adelaide. This purposefully fitted house party venue is 10 minutes northeast of the CBD. They host bi-monthly Meet & Greet events, which are a great way for nervous first-timers to get involved with the community.
- Dee-Lights Adelaide – An intimate venue hosting monthly swingers’ parties near Munno Para. They have a private group on Adult Matchmaker (just search for user “MissDeeLIghts”), and also appear to be active on FB.
- Adelaide Inner Circle – Adelaide-based society, sponsored by Red Hot Pie, with regular events promoted via their network.
- Pleasure Palace – Private swingers group with regular events held in Adelaide (as well as Melbourne). Not much known about this one except that they have a very long waiting list for single guys to attend their events.
Check out our separate swingers guide for Adelaide.
The Legal Side:
South Australia has some of the country’s strictest and most outdated sex laws. Brothels remain illegal, and there’s no formal category for sex-on-premises venues. That’s why you won’t see an advertised swingers club with a council-approved address. If someone tried, authorities could classify it as a brothel or “place of assignation” – which makes organisers understandably cautious.
So how does the scene survive? Well, mostly by keeping things private, non-commercial, and invite-only.
Most Adelaide/SA parties are technically just gatherings of consenting adults in a private space, with no one paid for sexual services. As long as the hosts don’t get greedy or noisy (easier said than done!), the police generally leave them alone.
Discretion is the golden rule here.
Western Australia
Well, we won’t bullshit you. This is going to be a short list.
There are just a couple of established clubs in WA (all in Perth), with the rest of the state’s lifestyle activity happening behind closed doors – at private house parties or through sites like Red Hot Pie and AMM.
Popular Venues & Events:
Club 103 – A well-established swingers club in Perth, operating from a purpose-built pleasure den. It’s fully council-approved and designed for play: multiple themed playrooms (a Dungeon room for BDSM, a Voyeur room with one-way glass, a group room, and a couple of private rooms). Decent mix of newbies and vets.
Infusions – Belmont-based group that operates much the same way that Inner Circle does in other Aussie cities. They run events and meet-ups via Red Hot Pie, with larger themed events typically held monthly on Saturday nights.
The Legal Side:
WA still has restrictive sex industry laws: brothels are illegal (but tolerated), and there’s no clear framework for sex-on-premises venues. That puts most of these clubs in a bit of a muddle.
Generally speaking, because there’s no liquor licence involved, sexual activity inside is tolerated as long as it stays discreet. And, if you’re familiar with the local brothel scene in Perth, you’ll know that any kind of enforcement is pretty rare these days!
Tasmania
Tasmania has just the one dedicated swingers club.
The population base is small, and the legal climate isn’t exactly friendly to sex-on-premises venues. That means most lifestyle activity is organised strictly in private.
Still, for what it’s worth…
Popular Venues & Events:
Playful Pleasures – The only major club we could find. It hosts play parties every 6-10 weeks, usually with a fancy dress theme. Things are generally kept friendly and respectable, to encourage new visitors. The nights start low-key with a a chat and a drink “before moving into other activities should you wish to“. In other words: no pressure. It’s a BYO booze venue. Attendees must be over 25.
The Legal Side:
Tasmania’s laws still criminalise brothel-keeping, and there’s no official sex-on-premises licence category.
That puts clubs like Playful Pleasures in the all-too familiar grey zone: they operate as private membership events… rather than public businesses. The lack of a liquor licence means sexual activity can legally occur inside as long as it’s all consensual, adult, and not visible to the public.
Private gatherings in homes or hotels are fully legal as long as no one is paying for sex.
Are there any swinger clubs or events that we’ve missed?
As you can see, many of the private parties are organised through Red Hot Pie or Adult Matchmaker. Both are worth joining if you want to pursue The Lifestyle.
After all, the vast majority of Aussie swinging takes place outside of clubs – through private arrangements.
